Mystery Box – Unveiling the Unknown: An Adventure in the Scientific Method
In this workshop, participants will work with small metal boxes – the so-called Mystery Boxes – whose contents will remain unknown throughout the session. This exciting challenge will push attendees to combine creativity with scientific skills: they will be asked to design experiments, develop models, and formulate hypotheses about the behavior of whatever is hidden inside the boxes. It’s a simple, fun, and engaging way to learn the basic principles of the scientific method.
The workshop is part of HOP Hands-On Physics, an educational innovation project in STEM subjects conceived, developed, and promoted by CERN in Geneva, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics, by the Agnelli Foundation, and by INFN, the National Institute for Nuclear Physics.
I partecipanti a questo workshop lavoreranno con piccole scatole metalliche – le cosiddette Mystery Box – il cui contenuto rimarrà sconosciuto per tutta la durata della sessione. Una sfida che spingerà i presenti a mettere in gioco creatività e abilità scientifiche: saranno infatti chiamati a ideare esperimenti, sviluppare modelli e formulare ipotesi sul comportamento di ciò che si cela all’interno delle scatole. Un modo semplice, divertente e intrigante per apprendere i principi fondamentali del metodo scientifico.
Il workshop è parte di HOP Hands-On Physics, un progetto di innovazione didattica nelle materie STEM ideato, realizzato e promosso dal CERN di Ginevra, il Laboratorio Europeo per la fisica delle particelle, dalla Fondazione Agnelli, e dall’INFN, l’Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare.
