Riusciresti a camminare sulle acque ? Ti sfidiamo a farlo nella nostra piscina non newtoniana! Liquido e solido allo stesso tempo, vi è un fluido non newtoniano all’interno, una sospensione mista composta da amido di mais ed acqua. Correndo, si applica una forza che preme la miscela velocemente facendo avvicinare le molecole di amido con l’acqua intrappolata tra le loro catene. Il risultato è una struttura semirigida che permette di camminare sul fluido. Tuttavia, se ci si rilassa e ci si ferma (o se si preme lentamente), la miscela fluisce come un liquido. Are you able to walk on water ? We challenge you in our non newtonian pool! Liquid and solid at the same time, a non newtonian fluid is there, a suspension mixture made of cornstarch and water. When running, the apply force presses the mixture quickly. This causes the starch molecules to close together and water to get trapped between the starch chains. The result is a semi-rigid structure which allows walking on the fluid. But if you relax and stand still (or you press slowly), the mixture flows like a liquid.
